Many thanks to Richard for sharing these fine photos with us
I would also like to acknowledge the enormous value of the Starke-Schell Registers, particularly the thorough research by Bill Schell on older vessels and on which the majority of my captions depend! The Registers are available through the World Ship Society. Recommended!
I must also mention a very valuable new on-line research site under MIRAMAR, all the essential details from the Starke-Schell series plus launch dates, still under continuous development by Rodger Haworth in New Zealand.
Also see a range of scanned and searchable Lloyd's Registers from the period 1930-1945 via the PLIMSOLL website.

Another fine drawing from John Baird, here is the British Rail Dublin - Holyhead ferry HIBERNIA of 1949 crossing the Irish Sea in the company of the Dublin-owned GLENCULLEN (1963-1968) built in 1952 as WALCHEREN.
John's shipping and other artwork can be viewed only here
and also exclusively on the new 'Coasters Remembered' website
